The Web Based Initiative

The Web Based Initiative is a program of the Architectural Conservation Laboratory of PennDesign dedicated to exploring and developing new methods of digital data analysis, management and dissemination for the field of Historic Preservation. While the World Wide Web continues to expand exponentially, new applications are under development daily which allow scholars, practitioners, and the public to have fast easy access to a wide range of information covering virtually all subjects. While fields such as communications and advertising are currently exploiting the power and extent of the Internet, other applications such as resource documentation are lagging behind. Even with limited resources and funds, smaller audiences can significantly contribute to the global information resource by adding their material to the system.
