In order to develop a plan for conservation, ACL interns conducted a detailed conditions survey and assessment of the murals and interior surface finishes in the fall of 2005. Using a glossary specifically created for recording the extent and condition of the plasters and paintings, recording was performed using high resolution large format photographs assembled into an ortho-rectified photomontage of the interior dome and walls. AutoCAD drawings were then generated in combination with GIS to map a variety of data including the various painting campaigns over time and sample information, and to diagnose deterioration.
