The exterior of the Theaterama was designed to display art of the American avant garde and in particular the Pop Art Movement commissioned by the architect Philip Johnson. Represented were ten works by Roy Lichtenstein, Alexander Lieberman, Robert Indiana, James Rosenquist, John Chamberlain, Robert Mallary, Peter Agostini, Robert Rauschenberg, Ellsworth Kelly and Andy Warhol. The Theaterama’s interior featured a picture slide show projected 360 degrees entitled “A’ Round New York”, which displayed a panorama of natural scenery and attractions that could be found in New York State.
